tagline
Dog training is not a “one size fits all” service. You need a trainer that has a huge toolbox and can find the right tools and techniques for you and your dog to help you reach your goals. You need a trainer that has diverse and substantial experience both hands-on and in the classroom. You deserve a trainer that is empathetic and will treat you with respect and personalized attention. You will benefit from all of this and more when you choose to work with us at Understanding Dogs.

New!  Day Training

Do you find yourself feeling too busy to train your dog but want your dog to have better manners?  If so, Day Training might be a good option for you.  Day Training does not require that you be present for your dog’s training sessions other than during the Introductory and Transition sessions.  We will come to your home and work with your dog on specified days and times on the skills of your choosing.  This is a great option for busy moms and working households.  If your family is away for most workdays, day training will not only allow your dog to have a potty break, but will also engage their mind and teach better manners.

Specifics:

  • Day training is only conducted between the hours of 8am-4pm
  • For residents of Castle Rock, Castle Pines and Larkspur only
  • Working sessions are performed at your home; you may be, but do not have to be, present for working sessions
  • Introductory and Transition sessions require your presence
  • Day Training sessions are sold in packages that must be pre-paid and pre-scheduled
  • Day Training is not for dogs that have aggression or other serious issues that require behavior modification

See what people are saying about us!

“Jenn Barg has been a great asset to Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic clients and patients.  I am able to refer clients to Jenn for behavioral issues and she will consult with me when there are possibly medical issues involved.  I have referred many clients to her and they have all been happy with her services.  Her knowledge and expertise in the field of canine behavior is a wonderful addition to my practice.”  Deborah Colgin, DVM, MS, Owner, Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic

“…I was beginning to think that perhaps all trainers were ok with animals but not so good with people, but you proved that theory wrong.”  Kirsten Elin

“We used Jenn to train our two dogs and she was excellent!  She did not just train our dogs; she first took the time to understand all details of our unique situation and dogs’ behavior problems.  She then created a custom program to train our dogs and us until all our pet behavior problems were solved.  Life around our home and office is so much more pleasant now that we have well-behaved dogs.”  Kyle Hansen, The Kyjen Company, www.kyjen.com | We make dog products!
